Earlier this year, Instagram launched a unique feature called “Guides,” which enabled creators to share tips, support and other longer-form content in a dedicated tab on their user profiles.
Initially, Instagram limited to a select group of creators, Instagram Guides are now available to everyone using the photo and video networking service.
Today, the company says it’s making the format accessible to all users and expanding Guides to include other types of content, as well — including Products, Places and Posts.
Guides provide another way for the community to connect with their favourite accounts, discover new products from people they may not already follow, and get inspired by what content people are loving on Instagram.
Visitors to Guides can share the Guides across their own Stories and in Direct Messages, expanding their reach even further. Also, new today is an update to Instagram Search. Before, users could search for names, usernames, hashtags and locations. With the changes rolling out,
Users will also now be able to use keywords that will surface content related to their interests. Along with Guides, the bigger goal is to support Instagram users from leaving the app.
Instagram says the research update is available in English to all users in Canada, the U.S., U.K., Australia, New Zealand and Ireland. The extension to Guides is rolling out now to all users.
